Age of Empires II: Age of Kings = AoK.Age of Empires II: The Conquerors download for free. The strategy game of our generation, AoE The Conquerors needs no introduction. A review by Kevin. Age of Empires II: The Conquerors Expansion is an expansion of Ensemble Studios’ Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings. It is a real-time strategy game released by Microsoft on August 24, 2000.
Here's my take on the matter:
There are so many things I find in playing the game that I miss from AoK, and so many things ES stripped from the final version the game just feels..week, sort of..can't quite put my finger on it. And I think the new graphics and such aren't quite worth this loss of 'funness'. Don't get me wrong; It is a heck of an awesome game, but it can't quite stand up the the classic awesomeness that is AoK.
In regards to the editor, it's much the same story. The fancy new features and graphics aren't worth the loss of the coolness of the AoK editor. There is just something special about creating a beautiful landscape in the AoK editor, and using complex combinations of the simple triggers and skillfully taking advantage of qwerks in the editor to create a masterpiece. Bah, you young'uns just don't know.
If you weren't around for at least some of the AoK glory days, you can't know what I'm talking about. Get AoK:TC and play a campaign called Ulio.
