Families and Types of Materials. There are five separate types of materials in ZBrush that I prefer to think of as residing in “families.” The families are Standard, Special, MatCaps, Fiber, and the Flat shader (which isn’t a true material as it contains no color or shading information at all and hence requires its own family). There are currently three methods by which you can send models from ZBrush to KeyShot without the material settings included. This will let you export the color from PolyPaint or texture, but not have any effects from the ZBrush materials such as MatCaps.
