HiI recently bought a second hand laptop off ebay I have installed my copy of licenced copy of Adobe Indesign, which appeared to install perfectly well. However, when I try to open the program a 'personalize your software' popup box appears which asks for my name, company and serial number. My name and company is already completed, but when I enter my serial number I receive the following error:'the serial number you provided is not valid.
Please check your serial number and re-enter it.' This serial number is correct and it was accepted by the software at the beginning when I first installed the software.I would guess the previous owner had Adobe InDesign installed on the machine in the past and my registry is expecting that previous serial number to be entered here.Has anyone else experienced this? If so do you have a solution?I have tried uninstalling the software, restarting, reinstalling. I've even tried the microsoft registry cleanup as well as regsitry mechanic, but still InDesign won't accept my valid Serial Number. Thanks, Mike. Somewhat the same experience here, except with brand new software and at a different point in the installation.I just received InDesign CS2 this morning, entered the ser# at the start and it continued with the installation, loading the whole suite.
So I naturally assumed the ser# was indeed valid. When it finished, a window popped up prompting me to enter the serial number in order to finish the installation.
I entered the ser# listed on the CD case at least 20 times, making very sure it had been entered correctly (same one I entered at the start) and always got 'This is not a valid serial number. Please check.' I finally decided to hit cancel, reload the trial version so I could at least keep working, and contact Adobe. But when I hit cancel, another window appeared that said I had to Validate the software with Adobe before use, which I did, and everything works fine.
And the same serial number I'd entered multiple times at the end of the installation perceived as 'invalid' is the same one that appears in the program's info. What's with the 'Invalid serial number' at the end of the installation?
Software glitch?I noticed when I first inserted the CD and selected Load InDesign CS2, the window with my name came up, went away, came up again, went away, came up again, then went away for a few seconds. It kept bouncing around like it didn't know what to do. I thought something was wrong with the software.
But it finally came back up and I was able to enter the ser# and continue.
